Rohit Sharma recently played for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026.
India and Afghanistan are set to battle in a multi-format series, comprising one Test and three ODIs. The one-off Test will be played from June 6 to 10 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.
The three ODI games will be played on June 13, 17, and 20. Veteran batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been named in India‘s squad for the ODI series against Afghanistan.
Both of them last played for the national team in the ODI series against New Zealand in January. Over the last two months, they were busy with the Indian Premier League 2026.
Rohit Sharma to miss ODI series against Afghanistan – Reports
According to a report by ANI, Rohit is doubtful for the ODI series against Afghanistan and might miss the campaign due to fitness concerns. Rohit was named in the ODI squad by the BCCI, but it was subject to fitness.
The veteran Indian batter recently played for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026. He scored 283 runs in nine games with two half-centuries. However, he also suffered a hamstring injury during the tournament and missed a few games.
Rohit was expected to check in at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) ahead of the ODI series against Afghanistan. However, according to reports, he is yet to reach the BCCI premises. If Rohit misses the campaign, Yashasvi Jaiswal is highly likely to be added to the ODI squad.
Meanwhile, some reports have also claimed that Kohli is expected to miss the series due to a hamstring injury. He played for RCB in IPL 2026, finishing as the team’s leading run-getter. He struggled with hamstring issues while batting in the final against the Gujarat Titans (GT), which RCB won.
