According to a report by Abhishek Tripathi of Jagran News, the veteran Indian batter has been ruled out of the ODI series against Afghanistan due to a hamstring injury. This would be a big blow for India as Kohli has been in fabulous form over the last few months.

Recently, he played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League 2026. Finishing as the leading run-scorer for the side with 675 runs, he played a crucial role in their title-winning campaign.

At an average of 56, he hammered one century and five fifties in the tournament, including a match-winning unbeaten half-century in the final against Gujarat Titans (GT). He suffered from hamstring issues in the summit clash while batting.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma is also doubtful for the ODI series against Afghanistan. Rohit, who also sustained a hamstring issue in IPL 2026, is yet to check in at BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) for his fitness test. Rohit also missed a few games in IPL 2026 due to his hamstring injury.
