IND vs AFG: Who could replace Mohammed Siraj in India's 11 if he misses one-off test?

Mohammed Siraj is doubtful for the IND vs AFG Test.
India are pulling their socks up for the upcoming campaign against Afghanistan. Both teams will lock horns in one Test and three ODIs.
The one-off Test will take place from June 6 to 10 at the MYS International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. Senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the Test match.
In his absence, Mohammed Siraj will lead India‘s pace attack against Afghanistan. However, the right-arm pacer is doubtful to play in the encounter. The Indian management might release Siraj from the squad to manage his workload.
Siraj was busy with the Indian Premier League 2026 for the last two months. He was a key bowler for the Gujarat Titans (GT), who finished as runners-up in the tournament.
He played in all 17 matches for GT, clinching 19 wickets at an economy of 9.06. He has reached Chandigarh but is under the medical team’s observation. The management will take a call on Siraj’s participation in the India vs Afghanistan Test match in the coming days.
Gurnoor Brar expected to replace Mohammed Siraj in India’s 11
Notably, if Mohammed Siraj misses the test match against Afghanistan, Gurnoor Brar is expected to replace him in the playing XI. Brar is an uncapped player and earned his maiden call-up in the one-off test against Afghanistan.
Brar plays for Punjab in domestic cricket. He has played 18 matches in First-Class cricket and picked 52 wickets at an average of 27.30.
Moreover, Auqib Nabi can replace Siraj in India’s squad. He is one of India’s net bowlers. Nabi impressed with his performance in the Ranji Trophy, finishing as the highest wicket-taker in the season.
Meanwhile, this is the second time that India and Afghanistan will lock horns in a Test match. The previous clash between the two sides took place in 2018, which India won. This match will not be part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27.
