All of Australia’s top four hit fifties on day 1 of the fourth IND vs AUS test at the MCG.
Day 1 of the Boxing Day test was action-packed. Australia’s top-order provided the fireworks with the bat, while Jasprit Bumrah continued to carry India’s bowling attack and kept the visitors in the contest.
19-year-old debutant Sam Konstas played fire with fire as he took the aggressive approach against Bumrah and Siraj. Konstas smashed 60 runs off 65 balls with six fours and two sixes, both sixes coming off Bumrah.
Konstas’ approach allowed Usman Khawaja to get his first half-century of the series, but he was dismissed for 57. Marnus Labuschagne played the most confident knock of his series, scoring 72 runs but got out while looking to hit Sundar over mid-off.
Bumrah pulled India back in the game with wickets of Khawaja, Travis Head (0) and Mitchell Marsh (4). Steve Smith is unbeaten on 68*, while Alex Carey got out to the second new ball to Akash Deep. At stumps on day 1 at the MCG, Australia are 311/6.
