The fourth IND vs AUS test is scheduled to start on Thursday, December 26, in Melbourne.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 has lived up to the expectations as after three exciting games, the series is currently tied at 1-1.

India started the series on a strong note with a dominant 295-run win in Perth before Australia bounced back in the second test with a 10-wicket victory in Adelaide. The third test in Brisbane ended in a rain-marred draw.

Both India and Australia have made changes to their squads for the Boxing Day test. Australia have replaced Nathan McSweeney with 19-year-old Sam Konstas, who will make his international debut in Melbourne. The visitors have named Tanush Kotian as a replacement for the recently retired Ravichandran Ashwin.

Both teams will be looking for better batting performances. While Australia have posted big scores in Adelaide and Brisbane, they remain heavily reliant on Travis Head, and Steve Smith returned to form in the last test. The hosts will be counting on senior players Marnus Labuschagne, Usman Khawaja, and Mitchell Marsh to step up and contribute with the bat.

On the other hand, India are yet to find support for KL Rahul. While Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli started the series with sensational centuries, their form has since dipped. Rohit Sharma seems to be a shadow of his usual self, with growing discussions around his potential retirement after the series.

As the action moves to Melbourne, India will be encouraged by their strong recent record at the venue. The Asian giants have won two and drawn one of their last three test matches at the MCG.

On that note let’s take a look at the weather forecast for day 1 of the fourth IND vs AUS test.
