The first IND vs AUS ODI took place at the Optus Stadium in Perth.

The first game of the three-match ODI series between Australian Cricket Team and Indian Cricket Team took place on Sunday, October 19 at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Mitchell Marsh & Co. won the encounter by seven wickets, chasing down a 131-run target (DLS methid) with ease. With the victory in the opening game, Australia have earned a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

The home team won the toss and opted to bowl first in the encounter, which was affected by rain and halted multiple times in the first innings. The Men in Blue suffered big blows at the start while batting, losing their top order like a house of cards. Rohit Sharma (8) and Virat Kohli (0) were the first two batters to depart to the pavilion cheaply, facing a dismal show upon their comeback to the national side.

Soon after that, India’s newly-appointed ODI captain Shubman Gill got out for 10 runs, and was followed by vice-captain Shreyas Iyer’s dismissal for 11 runs. The visitors were at 45/4 in the 14th over in the rain-affected clash, which was eventually reduced to 26 overs per innings.

KL Rahul (31) and Axar Patel (38) added crucial runs on the board, along with debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy contributing an unbeaten 19 runs towards the end. Losing nine wickets in 26 overs, India crawled to 136 runs on the scoreboard, with Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Owen, and Matthew Kuhnemann picking two scalps each for the hosts.

During the chase, the hosts lost Travis Head and Matthew Short cheaply for eight runs each, however, captain Mitchell Marsh (46*) and Josh Phillipe (37) ensured a smooth victory for the team with their crucial knocks. Australia chased down the target in the 22nd over, losing only three wickets.
