India have set Australia a target of 534 runs in the first IND vs AUS test in Perth.
The Indian cricket team are in the driver’s seat in the first IND vs AUS Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 test, ongoing in Perth as they have claimed three Australian wickets for only 12 runs in their second innings after setting the target of 534 runs.
India had another day of complete domination at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
India started the day at the score of 172/0 with Yashasvi Jaiswal on 90 and KL Rahul on 62. While Rahul got out after adding only 15 more runs, Jaiswal not only notched up his century, he converted it into another score of 150-plus. The young left-hander scored 161 runs.
After that, it was the Virat Kohli show in the second and third sessions of the day. Kohli slammed his 81st international century and 30th in test cricket. This is first ton in test cricket since July 2023 and only his third since 2020.
Kohli scored 100* off 143 balls and Nitish Kumar Reddy hammered 38* runs off 27 balls. India declared at 487/6, setting an insurmountable target of 534 for the hosts.
India got to bowl for about 20 minutes and in this little period, they struck thrice. Jasprit Bumrah removed Nathan McSweeney and Marnus Labuschagne, while Siraj toppled nightwatchman Pat Cummins.
Heading into day 4, Australia need 522 runs to win and India require only seven more wickets to script a famous win.

The day 4 of the IND vs AUS Perth test will start at its scheduled time of 7:50 AM IST / 02:20 AM GMT / 10:20 AM LOCAL. The session timings are the same as the first three days and play could be extended further 30 minutes to make up for the lost overs so far.
