Indian Cricket Team are pulling their socks up for the upcoming ODI series against Australia Cricket Team, scheduled to commence on October 19 (Sunday) with the opening game at Perth Cricket Stadium in Perth. Ahead of the exciting encounter, reputed cricket commentator Sanjay Bangar has revealed his best India playing XI for the clash.
Bangar revealed his team during a conversation on Star Sports Network. Surprisingly, he snubbed spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who has been in the form of his life. The wrist spinner finished as the highest wicket-taker in the recently concluded test series between India and West Indies. He was also the highest wicket-taker in Asia Cup 2025 last month.
For the openers, the former India all-rounder went ahead with skipper Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma. The duo has done a great job for the team as openers and would be keen to maintain their good record.He placed Virat Kohli, who averages 51+ on Australian soil in ODIs, at three. Both Sharma and Kohli will make a comeback to the Indian team in the ODI series against Australia, having last played international games in March during ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Sanjay Bangar picks Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Axar Patel in the middle-order
In the middle-order, Bangar has placed Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Axar Patel. Iyer, who has been named as the new vice-captain in ODIs, was the highest run-scorer for India during ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and played a big role in the team’s journey to the title. Rahul has been picked as the wicket-keeper, while Axar was chosen as a spin all-rounder in the playing XI.
Washington Sundar, who impressed with his form during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, was another spin all-rounder in his team. Nitish Kumar Reddy, who has grabbed a lot of limelight as a seam all-rounder in recent campaigns, made his way into Bangar’s team. In the pace department, the 53-year-old went ahead with Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, and Harshit Rana.
