Akash Deep picked two wickets in his second over in the IND vs BAN Chennai test.

Indian cricket team pacer Akash Deep was right on the money in his first spell in the 1st test between India and Bangladesh in Chennai as he knocked out Zakir Hasan and Mominul Haque in two consecutive deliveries to strengthen India’s position in the test match.

This is Deep’s only second test match. However, his experience of over 30 First-Class (FC) matches shone as he hit the perfect lengths and lines from the start of his spell in Bangladesh’s first innings in Chennai.

He started off by conceding only one run in his first over. In his second over, he rattled the stumps of both Hasan and Mominul to leave the visitors reeling at 22/3, carrying on from Jasprit Bumrah’s initial strike of opener Shadman Islam.

As Bumrah had done to left-hander Shadman, Deep went with the round-the-wicket angle to Hasan and Mominul in order to cut down the angle and not give them room to play on the off-side.

To Hasan, Deep bowled a length delivery that pitched outside off. Such immaculate was the length that Hasan could neither come forward nor go on the back foot and his feet remained unmoved. The left-hander played a drive as the ball continued to angle into him but the ball beat his inside edge and clattered into the stumps, knocking the middle-stump out of the ground.
