Day 2 of the IND vs BAN 2nd test in Kanpur was washed off without a ball being bowled.
While 35 overs were bowled on day 1 of the ongoing IND vs BAN 2nd test in Kanpur, day 2 was completely washed out without any action.
The match started with a delay of one hour on the morning of day 1 due to a wet outfield, which was caused by the overnight rain. Then, a drizzle arrived in the last over of the first session and it got heavier as the players headed off for lunch.
The second session started with a 15-minute delay. But, only after nine overs into the post-lunch session, bad light stopped play. While the Indian players initially stood near the boundary line in the hope of a resumption, everyone was forced away from the field when it started raining heavily. The umpires called stumps at around 3 PM IST on day 1.
On day 2, the first session was washed out due to rain. Then in the afternoon, even as rain subsided the covers remained on the field and plenty of water was on it as the super-soppers worked. The chances of play were grim due to bad light and the water on the covers. Eventually, a few minutes after 2 PM IST, the umpires called off play on day 2.
IND vs BAN: Kanpur weather forecast for day 3 of 2nd test (Sunday, 29 September)
The weather in Kanpur on September 29, Sunday, is not good for cricket as rain is forecasted from 9 AM to 11 AM with the rest of the day remaining cloudy. It is similar to what it was on Saturday. The chances of play on Sunday are also slim.
Although it’s still early to say, this match is likely heading towards a draw considering the slow and low nature of the pitch at the Green Park stadium on which wicket-taking is an arduous task.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh are 107/3 after stumps on day 2 in Kanpur.
