Rishabh Pant registered a terrific half-century on his comeback to test cricket in the Chennai test against Bangladesh.
Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill registered half-centuries in the morning session on day 3 of the ongoing 1st IND vs BAN test in Chennai. The pair extended Indiaâs lead to over 400 runs with their partnership that swelled over 100 runs as the Bangladeshi bowlers and their plans unravelled in the heat of Chennai.
This is Pantâs comeback test match â his first test since his car accident in December 2022. Incidentally, his last test before the accident was also against Bangladesh. And in that game too, in Mirpur, the left-hander had struck a match-winning half-century.
With India in a dominant position in the first session on day 3 at the Chepauk, Pant produced a hilarious antic in which he set the field for a Bangladesh bowler.
Before the bowler began his run-up, Pant saw a fielder standing on the offside between mid-off and cover. Pant noticed it and suggested the fielder move on to the leg side at short mid-wicket. To everyoneâs surprise and amusement, the fielder promptly changed his fielding position and moved to the legside to the place where the Indian left-hander guided him!
This incident left the commentators and fans in splits. It reminded the fans of a similar action by MS Dhoni during the 2019 World Cup Warm-up game, also against Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, India dominated the first session of day 3 in Chennai as both Pant and Gill remained unbeaten on 82 and 86, respectively. India have a lead of 432 runs heading into lunch.
