Shakib Al Hasan went wicketless in the first IND vs BAN test match in Chennai.
According to significant reports, veteran Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is doubtful for the second test match against Indian cricket team in Kanpur. The final match of the two-match test series between India and Bangladesh will be played from September 27 to October 1.
In the opening test match in Chennai, Bangladesh suffered a crushing 280-run defeat at the hands of the hosts.
The visitors were outclassed by Ravichandran Ashwin’s all-round performance in the game. Ashwin slammed a century in India’s first innings and then took a six-wicket haul while defending 514 runs against the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side.

During the Chennai test, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan injured his finger while batting. Shakib got hit by Indian seamer Jasprit Bumrah’s delivery and needed some treatment.
Bangladesh Cricket Board officials said on September 23rd that they will take a final call on Shakib’s availability for the second test following a medical assessment.
“We are heading to Kanpur tomorrow (Tuesday) and today is a day off. We will have two sessions afterwards and we will judge after that (regarding Shakib’s availability in second Test) and we don’t want to make a decision yet,” Hannan Sarkar, member of the BCB’s selection panel, told reporters at Chennai on Monday.
“These two days, the physio has kept him under observation. When we get back to the ground, we will get the physio’s feedback. We have to think before picking Shakib for the next match and there is time before the next match. We will see what condition he is in,” Hannan Sarkar added.
The BCB member Hannan Sarkar also cleared that Shakib Al Hasan had no finger injury issue before the Chennai test and he was 100 percent fit for the match.
“We know the pain in his hand is being discussed. It was not there before the match and many have tried to explain it in different ways. But before the match, we got a 100 percent clearance from the physio before taking him. He was a 100 percent fit then,” said Hannan.
“You can’t say it’s an injury. The discomfort he felt in that finger was not there before the match. He felt that when he started to bowl,” he said.
