IND vs BAN: 4 surprising inclusions in India T20I squad
4. Varun Chakravarty
KKR’s mystery spinner Varun Chakravarty made his debut for India in T20Is in 2021 and played the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. He couldn’t impress and took only two wickets in six games. Since then, he has performed consistently in the IPL.
He has now been rewarded for his performance as he is part of the upcoming IND vs BAN T20I series. Though India have Ravi Bishnoi and Washington Sundar as specialist spinners, it is to be seen whether he will get a game or not.
3. Nitish Kumar Reddy
Nitish Kumar Reddy had a really good season for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024, where he was able to catch the attention of everyone among so many big names in the team. He scored 303 runs with the bat and also bowled some good spells.
Nitish showed that he has every skillset to be a genuine all-rounder, and he has been picked up and is likely to make his debut in the IND vs BAN T20I series. He was picked earlier for the Zimbabwe tour, but he got ruled out due to injury.
2. Jitesh Sharma
India tried Jitesh Sharma in T20Is in the absence of Rishabh Pant. He got a few good chances, but couldn’t grab the opportunity properly. But he has been given a nod ahead of Ishan Kishan and Dhurv Jurel for the IND vs BAN T20Is series.
It has certainly come as a surprise to many. Jitesh needs to do well if he gets a chance in the series to stay in contention.
1. Mayank Yadav
One names that made it to the headlines most times during the IPL 2024 was Mayank Yadav. He rocked the season with his sheer pace, bowling the fastest delivery of the season.
Though he has been in and out due to injury, but keeping in mind that the next T20 World Cup is in India in 2026, India are looking to groom him and give him a chance. As a result, he has received his maiden T20I call-up for the IND vs BAN T20I series.
