India are currently leading the five-match IND vs ENG test series 3-1 after completion of fourth match.

After winning the crucial fourth test match against Ben Stokes-led England at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi by five wickets, India are currently leading the five-match series 3-1. Both sides will be traveling to Dharamshala for the fifth test match, which will start on March 07.

Ben Stokes-led England won the opening match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad by a close margin of 28 runs. In the Vizag test, India bounced back and crushed the Three Lions by 106 runs. In the third test match at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, Rohit Sharma-led India won the match by 434 runs.

After winning the toss and opting to bat in the fourth test, England were rocked back by the hosts India, and were reduced to 120/5, with Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Zak Crawley, Bairstow, and Ben Stokes getting out inside 25 overs.

England’s veteran batter Joe Root smashed a brilliant century (122) in the first innings, along with Ben Foakes (47) and Ollie Robinson scoring his maiden-test fifty (58), helping the visitors reach 353 runs in 104.5 overs.

In reply to England’s first-innings total of 353, India were bundled out 307 runs in 103.2 overs. Wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel smashed his maiden test fifty (90), while Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 73 runs and helped the hosts to reach 307 runs.

Ben Stokes-led England, after being bowled out for 145 in the second innings, set a target of 192 runs for the hosts. Indian spinners shared all wickets among themselves in the second innings as Ravichandran Ashwin scalped five, Kuldeep Yadav took four, and Ravindra Jadeja dismissed one English batter.

While chasing, the Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma got off to a perfect start as the duo added 84 runs for the first wicket. Jaiswal was dismissed by Joe Root for 37 runs. Indian captain Rohit Sharma played a gritty knock of 55 runs. However the hosts, India found themselves in trouble as they lost three quick wickets, which included Jaiswal, Rohit, and Rajat Patidar. 

However, both Shubman Gill and Dhruv Jurel stabilized the innings and helped India win the match by five wickets. After Ranchi, Dharamsala will host the fifth match of the test series between India and England.

IND vs ENG 2024: Most runs

Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal played a gritty knock in the first innings of the fourth test and scored a crucial half-century. Jaiswal currently leads the run-scorers list of the IND vs ENG 2024 test series with 655 runs in eight innings. Shubman Gill is at fourth spot with 342 runs to his name. England top-order batter Zak Crawley is at third spot with 328 runs in eight innings.

England’s batter Ben Duckett is third with 314 runs to his name in eight innings. Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who has so far hit 297 runs stands at fifth spot.

IND vs. ENG 2024: Most wickets

England left-arm spinner Tom Hartley is currently the leading wicket-taker of the IND vs ENG 2024 test series with 20 wickets in four games. Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested for the fourth test in Ranchi, picked 17 wickets in first three games and he is at second spot. Indian spin-twins Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have so far taken 17 wickets each in the series and find themselves at third and fourth spot, respectively.

Indian wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who took an amazing 4-wicket haul in the second innings of Ranchi test, finds himself at fifth spot with 12 scalps to his name in the entire series.
