IND vs ENG 2024: Most runs, most wickets after 5th test, Dharamsala

India won the five-match IND vs ENG test series 4-1.

With a win in the final match of the series against England at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala by an innings and 64 runs, the hosts India have won the five-match test series 4-1.

England started the series with a win in the opening fixture at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad by 28 runs and sent a strong statement to the Indian camp. However, in the Vizag test the visitors were crushed by the Rohit Sharma-led India, as the hosts won the game by 106 runs and leveled the series 1-1.

In the third test match at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, the hosts won the match by 434 runs and took a 2-1 lead.

The fourth and crucial test match at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi saw many ups and downs, but at the end India emerged victorious and won the game by five wickets, and sealed the series by a lead of 3-1.

After winning the toss and opting to bat in the fifth test, England were rocked back by the hosts as the visitors just managed to score 218 runs in the first innings. Wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav wrecked havoc as he claimed a five-wicket haul and Ravichandran Ashwin, who was playing his 100th test game, picked up a four-wicket haul.

In reply to England’s first-innings total of 218, with help of hundreds from Rohit Sharma (103) and Shubman Gill (110) and contributions from other top-order batters, India scored 447 before getting all-out in 124.1 overs. India ended the first innings with a lead of 229 runs.

In England’s second innings, senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin bagged a five-wicket haul while Kuldeep Yadav took one, and speedster Jasprit Bumrah dismissed two English batters. With this stunning all-round performance, India won the match by an innings and 64 runs and clinched the five-match series by 4-1. 

IND vs ENG 2024: Most runs

Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal ended up as the leading run-scorer of the IND vs ENG 2024 test series with 712 runs in five matches. Shubman Gill finished at second spot with 452 runs to his name. England top-order batter Zak Crawley finished at third spot with 407 runs in ten innings.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma finished fourth with 400 runs to his name in nine innings. England’s left-handed batter Ben Duckett smashed 343 runs in ten innings and finished as the fifth highest run-scorer of the series.

IND vs. ENG 2024: Most wickets

Indian veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin ended up as the leading wicket-taker of the IND vs ENG 2024 test series with 26 wickets in five games. England’s young left-arm spinner Tom Hartley finished second with 22 scalps to his name. Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested for the fourth test in Ranchi, picked 19 wickets in four games and finished as the third highest wicket-taker.

Indian wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who took an amazing five-wicket haul in the first innings of the Dharamsala test, finds himself in the fourth spot with 18 scalps to his name. Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja finds himself at fifth spot with 18 wickets.
