The first IND vs ENG test will commence on June 20 at Headingley, Leeds.

The Indian Cricket Team and the England Cricket Team are pulling their socks up for an exciting five-match test series, with the opening game scheduled to commence on Friday, June 20. The IND vs ENG first test will be played at Headingley, Leeds.

India’s new test skipper, Shubman Gill, will start his leadership journey against England and will aim for a powerful show. However, his captaincy will undergo a big test as there are many young and inexperienced members in the squad. Moreover, veteran members like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravichandran Ashwin recently retired from test cricket.

Their absence will definitely affect India’s performance in the series, however, the young members will eye to cement their place with a brilliant show in England. While KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant will be crucial members in the batting department, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj will have the responsibility to lead the bowling attack.

Talking about England, they have a strong batting unit with the likes of Ben Duckett, Joe Root, Harry Brook, and Ollie Pope. However, they lack depth in the bowling department as pacers in Mark Wood, Jofra Archer, and Gus Atkinson are not part of the Headingley test. Chris Woakes is the most experienced seamer in the playing XI.

Both teams will look to begin their campaign with a victory in the opening clash at Headingley. Ahead of the IND vs ENG first test, below are the session timings for day one of the encounter.
