Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bat first in the third IND vs ENG test.

The third test match of the five-match series between England and India commenced on Thursday (10th July) at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. Both teams had moments on day one of the game, and the match stands evenly poised.

Opting to bat first, England didn’t have a great start as both the openers Ben Duckett (23) and Zak Crawley (18) lost their wickets after the starts in a single over, courtesy of Nitish Kumar Reddy. However, after that, Ollie Pope (44) and Joe Root (99*) brought their team back in the game with their brilliant 109-run stand for the third wicket

However, right after the tea, Ravindra Jadeja removed Pope and soon after that Jasprit Bumrah sent Harry Brook packing for 11 runs. Skipper Ben Stokes (39*) played a decent hand after that, while Root continued putting pressure on the Indian bowlers.

He remained unbeaten at 99 as England ended day one at 251/4. For India, Nitish Kumar Reddy was the pick of the bowlers with his two wickets.
