Harry Brook has previously led England in five ODIs against Australia.

25-year-old Harry Brook continues to go from strength to strength as the right-handed batsman has been appointed England’s new white-ball vice-captain ahead of the start of England’s tour of India 2025.

Having made his international debut in 2022, the young rising star from Yorkshire has cemented his place in England’s sides across the three formats with exceptional batting performances.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced Brook as their vice-captain in limited-overs cricket on Monday night.

“Introducing our new men’s white-ball vice captain, @Harry_Brook_88,” the ECB captioned their post.

He will serve as the deputy to Jos Buttler in the five T20Is and three ODIs against India before taking the flight to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Brook, the No. 2 ICC ranked men’s test batsman, has risen in stature in white-ball internationals as well. In 2024, he averaged 54 in T20Is and 78 in ODIs. He was also part of England’s T20 World Cup 2022 winning campaign in Australia.

Brook’s maiden stint as England’s captain came last year when he led the side in the home five-match ODI series against Australia, which the visitors won by 3-2 margin.

Brook didn’t let the captaincy pressure come onto him as he cracked 312 runs in five knocks with one century and two fifties in the series, smashing runs at a strike rate of 127.
