IND vs ENG: Is Gautam Gambhir UNHAPPY with Wankhede pitch? Head coach's angry reaction during training goes viral

Under Gautam Gambhir, India have reached semi-final of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
For the third straight time in T20 World Cups, India will take on England for a place in the final. India will be delighted with the fact that their batting unit found form against West Indies to ace their highest chase in the tournament’s history.
An unlikely hero emerged in Sanju Samson, who stayed unbeaten till the end. However, India will be sweating over the forms of key players like Abhishek Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav.
England meanwhile, have not lost a game in the Super 8. However, they will have to adjust quickly from Sri Lanka to Indian conditions. Fortunately for them, they have already played two matches here at Wankhede.
With captain Harry Brook scoring runs, Jofra Archer finding his straps and Will Jacks proving to be the MVP of the competition, England seem to be a formidable opponent.
Is Gautam Gambhir unhappy with Wankhede pitch ahead of IND vs ENG semi-final?
After arriving at the Wankhede for a late-night practice session, Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir was straight away spotted having a chat with the pitch curator as he visibly looked angry. From the looks of it, the pitch seems to be hard and bouncy, indicating signs of a belter.
However, reports in Revsportz, also suggested the same pitch will be used as the India vs USA match, which was a low-scoring contest as Indian batters struggled to get going. While Gautam Gambhir’s expressions during his chat with the curator did not seem friendly, the pitches in ICC matches are handled by the International Cricket Council and not the local curators.
Hence Gambhir or anyone from the Indian management can have no say on the pitch or playing conditions. A flat track will certainly suit Indian batters, and will help them take advantage of England’s spin-heavy bowling lineup.
However, if 150-160 is a good total, then England will consider themselves as favorites, hoping to expose the Indian batting lineup’s vulnerabilities against spin and slower balls.
