Harshit Rana made his ODI debut in Nagpur against England.

India made an interesting call by picking Harshit Rana for the first ODI against England in Nagpur ahead of left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh.

The IND vs ENG ODI series got underway on Thursday at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur, where England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and elected to bat first.

After England got a fiery start from Phil Salt and Ben Duckett through their 75-run opening stand off 8.4 overs, India stormed back in the game through a flurry of wickets.

Though Jos Buttler and Jacob Bethell mustered fighting fifties, their efforts could take England to a mediocre total of 248 runs.

For India, Ravindra Jadeja recorded the best bowling figures of 3/26 in nine overs that included a maiden as well. On debut, Rana also claimed three wickets, while conceding 53 runs in seven overs that included a maiden. Rana dismissed Duckett, Harry Brook and Liam Livingstone.

With this performance on his ODI debut, Rana created a record that no Indian bowler has even made.

He made his T20I debut recently against England in Pune after coming on as a concussion substitute for Shivam Dube. Rana bowled brilliantly and managed figures of 3/33, which included the dismissals of Livingstone, Bethell and Jamie Overton.
