India Women and England Women will square off with each other in their fifth game of the ongoing ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 on Sunday, October 19. Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore will host the clash, which is the 20th match of the tournament.

The hosts, India Women, have three more games left in the tournament and they need to win each of them to keep their hopes alive of reaching the semi-finals. Out of four games so far, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side has won two games and lost two matches.

India Women commenced their journey with back-to-back victories against Asian rivals Sri Lanka Women and Pakistan Women by 59 runs and 88 runs respectively. However, they suffered major setbacks after losing to South Africa women and Australia Women in their recent games.

Against South Africa, the Women in Blue gained dominance by restricting them to 142/6 at one stage during the 252-run chase. However, they failed to overpower them in the last 10 overs and finished on the losing side.

The defeat against Australia was much bigger, where India Women struggled to defend their mammoth 330-run total, with Australia Women chasing down the target by three wickets to script history for the highest-ever successful chase in WODI history.

Speaking about England Women, they have had a much better show than India, winning three games out of four so far in ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. Led by Nat-Sciver Brunt, they won their opening three games with ease, crushing South Africa by 10 wickets, Bangladesh by four wickets, and Sri Lanka by 89 runs.

England’s last match against Pakistan was washed out due to rain. With seven points across four games, they have a good chance to make it to the top four.

Earlier in July, India Women crushed England Women at the latter’s home in a three-match ODI series 2-1. Hence, Harmanpreet & Co. will bank upon their recent success and home advantage in the upcoming clash. However, their top order has struggled to score runs consistently, while the bowling unit has flopped at crucial moments.

Notably, India and England have been almost equally powerful in head-to-head record in WODIs. Out of 79 clashes between both sides, India Women won 36 games while England Women clinched victories in 41 matches. Two games ended with no result.
