Ahead of the fourth IND vs ENG test match in Ranchi, terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun threatened to cancel the match.
India and England are going neck-to-neck in the ongoing five-match test series, with the Rohit Sharma-led side leading the series 2-1 against the Ben Stokes-led side.
The fourth test between India and England will commence on February 23 at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. Ahead of the crucial match, a huge threat has been issued by terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun to cancel the Ranchi match, officials said.
According to PTI, Pannun, who has been designated as a terrorist by the Home Ministry, has also appealed to the banned CPI (Maoist) through a video that was uploaded on social media where he was issuing threats to cancel the fourth test match between India and England in Ranchi.
“Gurupatwant Singh Pannun has threatened the India and England teams to cancel the match in Ranchi. He also urged the CPI (Maoist) to create disturbance in a bid to cancel the match,” Deputy Superintendent of Police, Hatia, P K Mishra told reporters.
“An FIR has been lodged against him at Dhurwa police station under the IT Act and investigation has been initiated,” P K Mishra told reporters.
The officials also added that the security has been tighten after the threat which was issued by Gurupatwant Singh Pannun and necessary measures will be taken during the fourth test match between India and England.
Major changes in Indian squad ahead of fourth test match vs England
India’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been released from the side for the upcoming fourth test match against England, which will start on February 23, Thursday. Middle-order batter KL Rahul, who missed the second and third tests, also has been ruled out of the upcoming game in Ranchi.
The Indian cricket board took the decision to rest Bumrah to manage his workload. On February 20, Tuesday, the Rohit Sharma-led side landed in Ranchi, and right-arm pacer Jasprit Bumrah was not seen with the Indian test squad.
“Jasprit Bumrah has been released from the squad for the 4th IDFC First Bank Test against England in Ranchi. The decision was taken keeping in mind the duration of the series and amount of cricket he has played in recent times,” the BCCI wrote in a statement.
In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Bengal pacer Mukesh Kumar has once again joined the Indian test side after playing a Ranji Trophy match against Bihar.
Mukesh also played the second test match against England, but his poor outing in the Vizag game led to his exclusion from the Rajkot test match.
India’s updated squad for the 4th Test
Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), KS Bharat (WK), Devdutt Padikkal, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep.
