IND vs ENG: "They responded well under pressure.." Rohit Sharma hails youngsters following win in 5th test

India won the five-match test series 4-1 under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.
Rohit Sharma became the first captain to win a test series against England since Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum took over their test side as captain and coach. Rohit‘s young brigade tamed England’s hyped ‘Bazball’ strategy in the five-match test series. India lost the first test at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, but they fought back and went on to win four test matches consecutively.
India defeated England in the fifth test at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala by an innings and 64 runs. India dominated the England side after the first test match. Captain Rohit Sharma praised young Indian unit that took on English side. Star batter Virat Kohli skipped the entire series due to personal reasons while KL Rahul missed the remainder of the series following injury in the first test.
Rohit Sharma speaks about youngsters
Following the series win against England, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma heaped huge praise on youngsters and said, “At some stage people are gonna and people are gonna come and we know that. These guys are maybe short of experience, they have played a lot of cricket and I can stand here and see that these guys responded pretty well under pressure and it was pleasing to see.”
Kuldeep Yadav bowled beautifully in the five-match series and picked up 19 wickets in four test matches. Rohit Sharma was impressed with Kuldeep Yadav and said, “He’s got a lot of potential and when the chips were down in the 1st innings, he bowled really well and after his injury he came back and worked at NCA and he is putting a lot of effort and the most pleasing thing was his batting.”
Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 712 runs in 9 innings in the five-match test series and he became only the second Indian batter to score more than 700 runs in a bilateral test series. Rohit said Jaiswal has a long way to go, He added, “He’s (Yashasvi Jaiswal) got a long way to go, amazing to be in this position. When a guy’s got talent like that who can put pressure on the bowlers from the word go, there will be lots of challenges going forward.”
