Yashasvi Jaiswal has smashed two double-centuries in the five-match test series against England so far.
Young sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal etched his name in the record books of Indian cricket as he became the highest run scorer for India in a test series against England. The Indian opener surpassed veteran batter Virat Kohli’s record set in the 2016–17 bilateral series between the two sides. The historic record was shattered during the fifth test match at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala on Thursday.
Jaiswal, who has been the talk of the town throughout the five-match series against England with his dominant batting displays, achieved the feat with a single off James Anderson during the first innings of the Dharamshala test. This pushed his tally to a remarkable 656* runs, surpassing Kohli’s previous record of 655 runs set during England’s tour of India in 2016/17.
Jaiswal’s aggressive yet composed batting style has left bowlers bewildered. The left-handed batter has displayed a delightful blend of elegance and grit, amassing two magnificent double-centuries and three well-constructed fifties in the ongoing series against England. His consistent run scoring has been a pillar for India’s dominance in the series so far.

Jaiswal’s record becomes even more impressive considering that he equaled it in just four tests, whereas Kohli took five. This highlights Jaiswal’s exceptional form and ability to convert starts into big scores consistently in test cricket.
The Indian batter has already shattered a plethora of records in this five-match test series against England. The 22-year-old also broke the record for most sixes in an innings and most maximums in a test series for India. Yashasvi Jaiswal, will now aim to shatter legendary Sunil Gavaskar‘s (774) record of most runs by an Indian player in a bilateral test series.
