IND vs NZ: 3 changes India could make in 2nd ODI in Rajkot

The second ODI between India and New Zealand will take place on January 14 in Rajkot.
After outplaying New Zealand in the opening clash, India (IND vs NZ) are set to square off with the visitors in the second game of the three-match ODI series. The India vs New Zealand 2nd ODI will be played on January 14 at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.
The Shubman Gill & Co. dominated the Black Caps with their batting in the first IND vs NZ ODI in Vadodara, chasing down a 301-run target by four wickets.
Despite a powerful show by New Zealand after being asked to bat first, their efforts went in vain as Virat Kohli stormed 93 runs to drive India to victory. Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer also made crucial contributions with 56 and 49 runs, respectively.
Despite winning the first match, India might make several changes to their playing 11 for the next clash to strengthen the team and give opportunities to other players. Here we take a look at the three changes India could make in the second ODI against New Zealand.
3. Ayush Badoni

Ayush Badoni has been added to India’s squad for the remainder of the series following Washington Sundar’s ouster due to injury. Sundar has been ruled out of the campaign due to a side strain.
Although Badoni has not played any international matches, he has impressed with his form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and domestic cricket.
With his ability to both bat and bowl, he can’t lend a hand in both departments. Therefore, Badoni could be included in the team to fill Sundar’s place, which would also strengthen the lower order.
2. Nitish Kumar Reddy

India picked three spinners in their bowling department in the last match, but they failed to impress with their performances. Jadeja and Sundar both went wicketless in the clash, while Kuldeep Yadav got one scalp. The pacers were more effective and clinched two scalps each.
Hence, India can go ahead with one seam all-rounder like Nitish Kumar Reddy in the next game. Moreover, seamers were more successful in the previous game than spinners. Therefore, adding Reddy will help the team in both the batting and bowling departments.
1. Arshdeep Singh

Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Harshit Rana were three pacers in India’s playing XI in the first game and clinched two wickets each. However, Krishna could not make a mark as he went too expensive with his spell, leaking runs at an economy of 6.70.
Moreover, he was also denied the opportunity to complete his 10-over spell in the match. Arshdeep Singh can replace him in the next game. His inclusion in the team will bring more variation to the pace attack as he is a left-arm bowler.
