According to a Times of India (TOI) report, the BCCI’s senior men’s selection committee could pick the ODI squad for the New Zealand tour next week. The selectors are currently keeping an eye on the ongoing India A series against Australia A before finalising the squad.
India A matches will allow selectors to assess players vying for a spot in the ODI squad. Some of these players could also be considered for the final two ODIs in New Zealand.
The squad selection has also been delayed due to the overlap between the ODI and Test series. Some regular Test players could leave the ODI squad early to begin their preparations for the two-match Test series.
Some reports say that the selectors are planning to pick an alternative squad for the last two ODIs. India A players’ performance against Australia A could play a crucial role in determining the replacements.
