India will be captained by Shubman Gill in the three-match ODI series against the New Zealand Cricket Team.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian squad (IND vs NZ) for the ODI series against the New Zealand Cricket Team. The two teams will face each other in a three-match series starting on January 11 in Vadodara.
The Indian squad for the New Zealand ODIs will be captained by Shubman Gill, who will make his International return after suffering a toe injury in the South Africa T20Is.
Vice-captain Shreyas Iyer has also been included in the squad. However, his participation depends on receiving fitness clearance from COE. Currently, Iyer is recovering from the horrific spleen injury, which he suffered during Australia’s ODIs last year.
Rishabh Pant remained the backup keeper in the Indian ODI setup, despite his poor performances in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26.
The batting department features superstars in Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who have been sensational with the bat in the last two ODI series and also oozed their class in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. They will be there along with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who will be the reserve opener, and KL Rahul.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, who scored a brilliant century during India’s last ODI series against South Africa, has been dropped from the team.
Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya have been rested to keep them fresh for the T20 World Cup 2026. Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar will be the all-rounder in the side and will share the spin bowling duties with Kuldeep Yadav.
The pace bowling department features Mohammed Siraj, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, and Prasidh Krishna.
