India Cricket Team will host New Zealand Cricket Team for three-match ODI as well as five-match T20I series.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to announce Indian Cricket Team‘s squad for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. The series is set to begin on 11th January with the first game set to be played in Vadodara. Interestingly, BCCI has announced India’s T20I squad for both the Kiwi series as well as the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in February.
Times of India journalist Gaurav Gupta posted a tweet regarding the ODI squad selection. According to the veteran scribe, Indian selectors are likely to meet on January 3rd or 4th and convene an online meeting to pick the team.
India’s last ODI series assignment was at home against South Africa, which the hosts won with 2-1 margin. KL Rahul led the side in place of Shubman Gill, who was injured. The 26-year-old is expected to make his return to the side after missing the final two T20Is against South Africa at home due to foot injury.
Ruturaj Gaikwad or Ishan Kishan? Huge decision to be taken

Indian selectors will have huge decision to make as they look to choose between Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan. Both batters have been in decent nick with the bat in recent times.
Gaikwad, scored a century in the second ODI against South Africa in Ranchi recently. Ishan Kishan, on the other hand scored a century against Karnataka in the Vijay Hazare Trophy game.
The 27-year-old was also the leading run-scorer in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy with 517 runs. Gaikwad, scored an unbeaten 38 off just 13 balls against Sikkim to help Maharashtra win their Vijay Hazare game on Friday.
Will Shreyas Iyer make his return to the side?
Batter Shreyas Iyer hasn’t played cricket since injuring himself during the Australian tour. The 31-year-old has just resumed batting at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru.
The right-handed batter from Mumbai scored a total of 72 runs in the first two ODI games against Australia. As per reports, Iyer is in Bengaluru to work on his batting in a bid to prove his match fitness.
Shreyas Iyer’s return to the side will bolster the batting especially in the middle-order. If the 31-year-old is passed fit then the selectors will be keen to pick Iyer for the ODI series considering his experience in this format of the game.
