New Zealand currently lead the three-match IND vs NZ test series 2-0.

India’s fortress has rarely been breached over the past dozen years. Prior to the defeat against New Zealand in Pune, India held the record of being unbeaten for 18 consecutive home test series, spanning 12 years.

The tables have turned now and the Asian giants find themselves 2-0 behind in the three-match series. With the fortress already breached the Kiwis are standing on the edge of doing the unprecedented.

Coming into the series, New Zealand only had two test victories on Indian soil, the last of which came 36 years ago.

The series opened with a stunning upset in Bengaluru, where a dramatic batting collapse saw India get bowled out for just 46 runs, ultimately losing by eight wickets.

The Indian nightmare continued in Pune, where Mitchell Santner’s brilliant 13-wicket haul secured a 113-run victory for New Zealand.

With the series already lost, the third test match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is a battle for pride for the Asian giants. This is because India face the embarrassment of a white-wash in a home test series, something that has never happened before.

Have India ever been white-washed at home in a series of three or more test matches?

No. India have never been white-washed in a home test series of three or more test matches. If New Zealand win in Mumbai, it will mark the first instance of the Indian team suffering a white-wash at home in a series of a minimum of three tests.

On one occasion, India have previously lost all tests in a home test series. In the 1999/2000 series against South Africa, India lost the two-match test series 2-0.
