Indian Cricket Team won the fifth T20I against New Zealand by a walk in the park. Winning the clash by a huge margin of 46 runs, the Men-in-Blue won the five-match series 4-1.
Ishan Kishan rocked the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram with his incredible century. Smacking 103 runs off 43 deliveries with 10 sixes, he almost sealed his place in the side for T20 World Cup 2026. Along with him, Suryakumar Yadav (63) and Hardik Pandya (42) made crucial contributions with the bat as India posted a huge total of 271/5 in the first innings.
In the chase, the Black Caps lost opener Tim Seifert (5) cheaply; however, Finn Allen and Rachin Ravindra etched a stunning stand of 100 runs for the second wicket. While Allen (80) hammered a marvellous fifty, Ravindra got out for 30 runs.
The rest of the batters failed to capitalise on the good start, as the visitors were bowled out for 225 runs in the 20th over. Arshdeep Singh hunted a five-wicket haul after his expensive first two overs.
Kishan was adjudged Player of the Match for his wonderful batting show. Suryakumar Yadav was adjudged Player of the Series for his three fifties across five games. - With 271/5, India registered the 5th highest total ever in T20I cricket (Only full member nations).
- 69 sixes were hit by India in IND vs NZ series. It is the most number of sixes scored by a team in a bilateral series.
- 23 sixes by India in the innings is the joint most conceded by a FM side in a T20I alongside South Africa vs India in Johannesburg in 2024.
- Ishan Kishan scored his first century in T20I cricket.
- Ishan Kishan scored 100 off 42 balls. It was the fifth fastest ton for India, the fastest ever vs NZ, and the seventh fastest in all T20s.
- The 137-run partnership between Ishan and Surya is the second-highest for any wicket for India vs NZ, behind the 158-run opening stand between Rohit & Shikhar in Delhi in 2017.
- 86 runs scored by India between overs 11 & 15 is the second most against a FM team in this block of overs, only behind India’s 90 runs vs SA in Joburg in 2024.
- Ish Sodhi leaked 29 runs in a single over. He is now placed in fifth spot for most runs conceded by a NZ bowler in T20Is. (1st Daryl Mitchell, 30 vs AUS).
- Suryakumar Yadav became the third Indian batter to reach 3000 runs in T20I cricket after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
- Suryakumar Yadav becomes the fastest to 3000 T20I runs by balls faced. (1822 balls-Suryakumar Yadav, 1947 balls- Muhammad Waseem).
- Sixth Player of the Series award for Suryakumar Yadav in the match. It is joint most for a player in T20Is alongside Virat Kohli and Wanindu Hasaranga.
- Sanju Samson opened in home T20Is 15 instances and has crossed 30 just twice: 111 vs Ban in Hyderabad in 2024 and 37 vs SA in Ahmedabad in 2025.
- 36 sixes were hit in the match. It is the record for the second most numbers of sixes in a T20I match. (Most sixes in a T20I- 41 Bulgaria vs Gibraltar, 2025.
- Record for the highest match aggregate in a T20I match. 1st: 517 WI vs SA Centurion 2023, 2nd: 496 Ind vs NZ Trivandrum 2026.
- Most expensive 5-fers in T20Is- 5/51 Arshdeep Singh vs NZ Trivandrum 2026, 5/40 Alzarri Joseph vs SA Joburg 2023
- Fourth time India have had a 100+ individual score & a 5+ wicket haul in a T20I (only 13 times it has happened in all T20Is & no other side has done it more often).

- Fastest 50+ scores vs India inside powerplay by Finn Allen (57 off 25 balls). Next is Litton Das (56* off 24) in Adelaide 2022.
- Highest Powerplay totals vs India- 79/1 by New Zealand in Trivandrum 2026.
- NZ reached 50 in 3.1 overs – the quickest by a team against India. Previous fastest- 3.5 overs by SA in Ahmedabad in 2025.
