The IND vz NZ, 2nd ODI, took place at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on January 14.

New Zealand made a great comeback in the second ODI against Indian Cricket Team in Rajkot on Wednesday, January 14. The visitors defeated the hosts by seven wickets to level the series 1-1 after two games. Having been outplayed in the first clash by four wickets, they left no stone unturned to chase down the 285-run target set by India.

Opting to field first after winning the toss, New Zealand did not allow the Men in Blue to dominate with the bat like in the last game. Key Indian batters like Rohit Sharma (24), Virat Kohli (23), and Shreyas Iyer (8) could not go big.

However, Shubman Gill and KL Rahul executed a stunning show, storming a fifty and a century respectively. Rahul, who was unbeaten in the previous game, hammered an unbeaten 112 runs off 92 deliveries, hitting 11 fours and one six in the process. For New Zealand, Kristian Clarke clinched a three-wicket haul, while four other bowlers got one scalp each.

In the chase, the Black Caps lost their openers cheaply as Devon Conway and Henry Nicholls got out for 16 and 10, respectively. However, Will Young and Daryl Mitchell ensured a victory for the visitors like a walk in the park. Registering a brilliant fifty, Young scored 87 runs while Mitchell hit an unbeaten 131 runs to drive the team to victory by seven wickets.
