The visitors lead the IND vs NZ test series 1-0 after an eight-wicket victory in Bengaluru.

For the second time in 2024, the Indian cricket team have went behind early in a home series. While they bounced back to win 4-1 against England earlier this year, they don’t have that many games against New Zealand to reassert their strength.

The second IND vs NZ test will get underway on October 24, Thursday, at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Any other result than a victory for India in Pune will mean the end of their series-winning streak at home that has lasted 11 years now.

India’s sheen of dominance has already taken a dent. The eight-wicket loss in Bengaluru was their third home test match loss since 2023. In comparison to before, they had lost only two home tests from 2013 to the end of 2022.

In Bengaluru, the test match was affected by rain as day 1 was entirely washed out. The rain, the overcast conditions and the moist pitch, plus the decision of Rohit Sharma to bat first, went all in New Zealand’s favour as they bowled India out for only 46 runs.

While India did fought back with the bat in their second innings, New Zealand were always ahead in the game once they had skittled India out for the third-lowest total in their test history.

Reacting to the loss in Bengaluru, a spin-friendly pitch with low bounce has reportedly been prepared in Pune, where India have lost one and won one test match so far.

The weather this time won’t interfere with the match much.

IND vs NZ: Pune weather forecast for all five days of 2nd test

According to Accuweather.com, there will be a cloud cover for all days except the fourth day in the IND vs NZ Pune test. However, there is little to no threat of rain in Pune for this game. The precipitation percentage for all five days of the Pune test ranges from 1% to 10%.

While the pitch is dry to keep the spinners dominant, there will be cloud cover that will keep the pacers interested too.
