Ravindra Jadeja took a fifer in the first innings of the 3rd IND vs NZ test in Mumbai.
The Indian team closed the second day of the third test of the IND vs NZ test series on a positive note.
The second day of the Mumbai test started with India resuming their first innings at 84/4. Overnight batsmen Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill adopted aggressive approach to counter the New Zealand bowling attack.
Pant and Gill added 96 runs for the fifth wicket partnership steering India to a slender but valuable first-innings lead of 28 runs. Ajaz Patel led the Kiwi bowling attack registering his sixth five-wicket haul.
The second innings of New Zealand started in a horror fashion as wickets from Akash Deep, Washington Sundar and Ravichandran Ashwin helped India reduce New Zealand to 44/3.
New Zealand’s number 3 Will Young led the comeback for the Kiwis through his excellent half-century (51). Young was well supported by middle-order batters Daryl Mitchell (21) and Glenn Phillips (26).
Continuing his first innings heroics, Ravindra Jadeja has been the most successful Indian bowler in the second innings. The southpaw stands on the brink of another test fifer with four wickets to his name already.
India wrapped up the day in perfect fashion, with Ravindra Jadeja dismissing Matt Henry in the final over. Jadeja delivered an absolute peach of the delivery that drifted in and then turned away just enough to beat Henry’s outside edge, rattling his off stump and leaving India firmly in control.
