Suryakumar Yadav scored back-to-back half-centuries in the last two T20Is against New Zealand.

Suryakumar Yadav has done a marvellous job in the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand, leading Indian Cricket Team to back-to-back victories in the first three games. The Men-in-Blue won the first clash by 48 runs, and followed up with victories by seven and eight wickets in the next two games to seal the series.

Not only with his captaincy, Suryakumar has also rocked with his batting in the series after struggling to score a half-century last year. The Indian captain got out for 32 runs in the opening game, but hammered back-to-back fifties in the next two matches.

He slammed an unbeaten 82 runs in the second T20I in Raipur and followed it up with an unbeaten 57 runs in the third game in Guwahati. Despite not winning the Player of the Match awards, he has played a key role in India’s wins.

The IND vs NZ 4th T20I will take place on January 28 at ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. And, in that encounter, Yadav can grab a marvellous milestone, becoming only the third Indian batter after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to achieve huge feat

The right-handed batsman is just 41 runs shy of reaching the 3000-run mark in T20I cricket, which he can steal in the next encounter against the Black Caps. Across 102 games since his debut in 2021, Suryakumar has scored 2959 runs in 96 innings.

Sharma and Kohli are the only other Indian batters with 3000 runs in T20I cricket, with the former being India’s highest run-getter with 4231 runs. Overall, the 35-year-old can become the 12th batter to reach the landmark.
