The venue of the first IND vs NZ ODI is BCA Stadium in Kotambi, Vadodara.
Vadodara hosted the opening ODI of the three-match series between Indian Cricket Team and New Zealand Cricket Team. The clash took place at BCA Stadium on January 11 (Sunday). Varun Aaron and Sanjay Bangar, who were commentators, stole the limelight amid the match due to a small discussion over the language controversy.
Opting to bowl first, India could not halt New Zealand from going big. The BlackCaps piled up 300/8 in the first innings with a strong start by openers Devon Conway and Henry Nicholls. Both of them hammered half-centuries. Later, Daryl Mitchell added 84 runs to drive the scoreboard to a respectable total.
However, the Men in Blue dominated the chase. While Rohit Sharma got out for 26 runs, Gill went on to hammer a half-century. Kohli, scoring 93 runs off 91 deliveries, followed up with his marvellous form from the previous series.

In the 12th over of New Zealand’s batting, commentators Aaron and Bangar had a small discussion over Hindi and Tamil languages. Wicketkeeper KL Rahul advised spinner Sundar to bowl a little slower, noticing that he was bowling like a medium pacer.
Speaking in Hindi, he said, “Medium pacer jaise daal rahe ho yar, spinner ho, thoda ball ko dheema fekho.
Speaking about the incident, Aaron said that Rahul could have used Tamil to convey his message to Sundar as he did previously in the clash. When he asked Bangar’s opinion on his views, the latter made a witty comment that he believes in the national language.
“Mai rashtra bhasha me believe karta hun (I believe in national language – Hindi),” indirectly saying that language doesn’t matter,” he said. Have a look at the video of the moment below.
Meanwhile, Sundar sustained an injury scare in the encounter. After bowling five overs, he suffered a back issue and left the field. He didn’t return later to bowl. Across his five-over spell, he went wicketless and leaked 27 runs.
