ICC officials are meeting with the PCB regarding the decision to boycott the IND vs PAK match.

Amidst the IND vs PAK boycott controversy, ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khwaja travelled to Lahore on Sunday and met with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Haque.

Imran Khwaja has been nominated as the mediator by the ICC to solve the matter. Notably, Pakistan have declined to play against India in the T20 World Cup 2026 after not getting permission from their government.

The India vs Pakistan match is scheduled to take place on February 15 at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Both Khwaja and Naqvi had been in discussions for the past few weeks after the global cricket body learned of the PCB’s decision not to play matches against India. The ICC has also informed the PCB that taking such a step could have serious consequences and lead to sanctions.

ICC rejects three demands of PCB- Reports

According to a report by Sports Tak, the PCB made a few demands to the ICC during the Lahore meeting. However, the global body rejected three of them.

To begin with, PCB demanded that India should be asked to resume bilateral cricket with Pakistan. However, ICC rejected the request, noting that it is not their domain.

Moreover, PCB also requested a tri-series between India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh and India to tour Bangladesh this year. However, ICC rejected both the demands for the same reason that it was out of their domain. Notably, India and Pakistan do not play bilateral cricket and only clash in ICC tournaments and Asia Cup.

Notably, PCB also requested ICC not to penalise Bangladesh after their removal from T20 World Cup 2026 and also give them their share of annual revenue. ICC had already decided not to penalise Bangladesh, so they accepted the proposal.

They also asked the global cricket body to allot an ICC tournament to Bangladesh, as last year’s Women’s T20 World Cup was shifted out of the country to Dubai due to civilian riots. ICC said that Bangladesh can be allowed to host an Under-19 World Cup tournament.
