IND vs PAK: Will Varun Chakravarthy bowl a new mystery delivery against Pakistan in T20 World Cup 2026?

India spinner Varun Chakravarthy has something new up his sleeve as the Men in Blue prepare for the high-voltage T20 World Cup 2026 clash against Pakistan. This match will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, February 15.

The match was confirmed a few days ago, as the Pakistan government had initially boycotted the game against India and instructed the Pakistan team not to play this encounter.

This was to show solidarity with Bangladesh, who Scotland replaced in the ongoing World Cup, as they refused to travel to India to play their games, citing security reasons.

In the aftermath, PCB announced that they would boycott the India game in solidarity with Bangladesh. However, after talks between the ICC, BCB, and PCB, Pakistan changed their mind and agreed to play against India.

Varun will be in focus as the Colombo pitch is suitable for spinners. But Pakistan batters have played two games so far at the venue and have the upper hand.

Varun Chakravarthy says he is working on something new

Varun Chakravarthy shone for India against Namibia, as he needed only two overs to pick three wickets for seven runs to rattle their batting and put the game in India‘s favor. His bowling helped India register a 93-run win over Namibia and move closer to the Super 8 stage.

To expand his already excellent repertoire, the 34-year-old has been working on several new deliveries. Varun told the media ahead of the big match against arch-rival Pakistan.

“I’ve been working on a few things. That has always been my process. I usually have some delivery coming up,” Varun was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

However, Varun stated that before launching new deliveries in games, he considers a variety of variables. The opposition, surface, and condition will probably all be factors.

“It’s up to me if I’m courageous enough to try it in the next match. There are a few balls that just click for me in some matches, and some I have been trying for six years, and they still haven’t come off. Depends on the complexity of the delivery,” the Tamil Nadu tweaker said.

Varun is expected to play a central role when India clash with Pakistan in the marquee Group A game.
