The first IND vs SA test at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata will begin on November 14.

Indian Cricket Team and South Africa Cricket Team are pulling their socks up for the first test of the two-match series, which will commence on November 14 (Friday) at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Shubman Gill will captain hosts India, while Temba Bavuma will be leading the visitors South Africa following his comeback from injury.

India, who tasted immense success in their last test series at home against the West Indies with a clean sweep, have made only three changes to their squad. To begin with, wicket-keeper batter N Jagadeesan and pacer Prasidh Krishna were dropped from the squad. Seam all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy was initially picked in the squad, but has been released to play for India A and will join team for second test.

Moreover, vice-captain Rishabh Pant and pacer Akash Deep have made a comeback after missing the last test series against West Indies due to injuries. The Shubman Gill & Co. will bank upon the home advantage and spin attack to dominate the Proteas.

On the other hand, South Africa are coming off 1-1 draw in a two-match test series against Pakistan last month, and have a balanced squad for the campaign against India. Temba Bavuma, Tony de Zorzi, Aiden Markram, Tristan Stubbs, and Ryan Rickelton will be crucial names in the batting department. Keshav Maharaj will lead the spin attack, while Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen will have the responsibility of the pace unit.

The Eden Gardens pitch will not be a rank turner and will assist both batters and bowlers with a little bit of bounce as per the pitch curator. The venue has been a high-scoring ground in the past, and is set to host a test match after six years.
