IND vs SA: Head to head records in T20I cricket

The IND vs SA T20I series will comprise five matches.

The three-match ODI series between India and South Africa proved to be a hard-fought one. Both heavyweights threw punches at each other, and the winner was decided after the final ODI in Visakhapatnam. India were the better team of the two, and they came out victorious by a margin of 2-1. Virat Kohli and Kuldeep Yadav were the stars for the hosts.

Now the action moves to the shortest format. The No. 1 ranked T20I side, India, will face the Proteas in a five-match action-packed T20I series. The first game is scheduled to be played on December 9, Tuesday, in Cuttack. The next two games will be played on December 11 and 14 in Mullanpur and Dharamsala.

Fourth and fifth games will be played on December 17 and 19 in Lucknow and Ahmedabad. It will be a totally different side of India from the ODI side. The T20 stars will be back, and Suryakumar Yadav will lead the T20 World Champions. India are coming off consistent success in this format and will look to carry on their domination in this format.

India will be boosted with the return of vice-captain Shubman Gill, who missed the second test and three-match ODI series against South Africa. India have maintained their aggressive template in T20Is and they will be keen to carry it on. This series will be very important for both the sides as India have only 10 T20Is (including the series) left to prepare for the ICC T20 World Cup next year at home, and while South Africa will use this series to get acquainted to Indian conditions for the ICC event next year.

India have a well-balanced side, and they will look to find some remaining puzzles of the piece. South Africa will be led by Aiden Markram and have so many T20 stars coming back. David Miller, Reeza Hendricks, Donovan Ferreira, and George Linde are back; it will strengthen their batting unit.

In the bowling unit, Anrich Nortje will be back in T20Is since June 2024. For India, Hardik Pandya makes his return after missing out on the action for almost three months. Jasprit Bumrah is also available, so it will be a full-strength Indian T20I squad.
