The fourth IND vs SA T20I, which was scheduled to be played in Lucknow, was called off due to excessive fog.
The fourth T20I between Indian Cricket Team and South Africa Cricket Team was affected big time by weather, as the match was called off due to excessive fog. The encounter was scheduled to begin at 7 PM on December 17 (Wednesday) at Bharat Ratna Shree Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
The toss, which was originally scheduled to take place at 6:30 PM IST, did not take place at time as visibility due to the foggy weather wasn’t great. The on-field umpires did an inspection multiple times in the hope to get some game, but the weather didn’t permit. The officials extended the inspections till 9:30 PM but the weather didn’t improve and the game was ultimately called off.
Many fans slammed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for conducting the encounter in Lucknow in winter. They showed their wrath on micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter), sharing numerous comments against the BCCI.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has placed strict rules for cricket matches getting affected by bad light. According to the rules, the umpires have the final call in cases of matches being affected by visibility issues.

Conditions shall not be regarded as either dangerous or unreasonable merely because they are not ideal”.
Under section 2.8.5.3, which concerns light meters, the playing conditions state: “Light meter readings may accordingly be used by the umpires: To determine whether there has been at any stage a deterioration or improvement in the light [and] as benchmarks for the remainder of the match.”
