After being asked to bat first, the Men in Blue piled up a gigantic total of 231/5 in the first innings, thanks to marvellous half-centuries by Tilak Varma (73) and Hardik Pandya (63). In the end, Pandya hammered second fastest fifty for India to drive the scoreboard to a mountainous total. For South Africa, opener Quinton de Kock (65) hit a brutal fifty, etching an opening stand of 69 runs with Reeza Hendricks.
