The IND vs SL Final in the Asia Cup 2023 has a reserve day on Monday (18th September).

The grand final of the Asia Cup 2023 is all set to take place between India and Sri Lanka on September 17 (Sunday) at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Both teams have won two games each in the Super Four stage and made it to the finals. India won against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, while the defending champions beat Bangladesh and Pakistan to reach the final.

This will be the ninth Asia Cup final in the history between the two teams. India are leading with five (ODI) wins as compared to Sri Lanka's four (ODI) in this rivalry. Both teams have match-winners; India will mainly rely on the experienced players, while Sri Lanka have most of the youngsters who are performing. It will be an epic contest between the two most successful teams in Asia Cup history.

IND vs SL Asia Cup 2023 Reserve Day: All you need to know

The excitement among the fans has reached its maximum, and why not? The team that wins the Asia Cup 2023 will head into the World Cup with high confidence. That is why this is an important game for both teams and their fans. But the biggest concern is the weather. The rain has played spoilsport in almost every game played in Colombo. And the weather forecast for Sunday is not encouraging.

There is 80 percent chances of rain during the match. Though considering the same issue, the ACC has provided a reserve day for the finals.

When will the reserve day for final match come in?

In case rain interrupts the final match on Sunday, first the overs will be reduced to complete 20-overs a side game to determine winner via DLS method. If the weather doesn't permit play at all on Sunday, the match will move to reserve day Monday (18th September) and the play will be resumed from the point where it was left on Sunday (17th September). It is the same as what we saw in the India vs PAkistan Super Four clash, which was played for two days (10th and 11th September)

But what will happen if it continues to rain on reserve day as well? Notably, there is a 90 percent prediction of rain on reserve day as well, from afternoon to evening. That rain can wash out the play on Monday as well. So if both days get washed out, then both teams will be crowned joint champions and will share the trophy. One such instance was recorded during the Champions Trophy 2002, when these two teams shared the title after the final was washed out.
