The Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian Cricket Team won the IND vs SL T20I series 3-0.

Indian Cricket Team ushered in a new era of T20Is, under captain Suryakumar Yadav with Gautam Gambhir as the head coach, with another bilateral series win over Sri Lanka in the opposition’s den. At the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, the Men In Blue recorded thumping victories to whitewash Sri Lanka in the IND vs SL series.

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja retired from T20Is at the end of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, and Jasprit Bumrah was rested from this tour. This presented other players with opportunities to strengthen their cases as the team builds for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

In this article, we rate the players based on their performances in the IND vs SL T20I series.

Rating Indian players’ performances in the IND vs SL T20I series:

Yashasvi Jaiswal – 8

Shubman Gill – 8

Vice-captain Shubman Gill finished the series with scores of 34 and 39 and batted at a strike rate of 137; he missed the second T20I due to neck spasms.

Suryakumar Yadav – 9

Captain Suryakumar was in fine touch in the series. He was Man of the Match in the first game for his 58 (26) and then cracked 26 (12) in the second IND vs SL T20I. Suryakumar top-scored for India in the IND v SL T20I series.

He flopped with the bat only in the third game, but he rolled over his arm to bowl the last over when Sri Lanka needed six runs in six balls. He picked up two wickets. Suryakumar even won Player of the Series award.

Rishabh Pant – 7

Pant featured in the first two games and scored 51 runs at a strike rate of 147. He scored 49 runs in the first match, which India won by 43 runs. Samson’s failures mean Pant is set to be India’s first-choice wicket-keeper in T20Is going forward.
