The final fixture of the ongoing three-match ODI series between the Sri Lanka and India will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Wednesday, August 7.

Under the new head coach Gautam Gambhir, India started their white-ball tour against hosts Sri Lanka on a fantastic note. The visitors clinched the T20I series 3-0. However, the hosts have shown a great fight in the ongoing three-match ODI series, which started on August 2. 

The opening match of the three-match ODI series between India and Sri Lanka was tied after Men in Blue were all-out on 230 runs in 47.5 overs while chasing 231 runs. In the next match, Sri Lankan batters Avishka Fernando and Kamindu Mendis scored 40 runs each as the hosts scored 240/9 in 50 overs.

While chasing 241, Indian captain Rohit Sharma once again showed his class on a tricky Colombo pitch. The captain scored 64 runs in 44 balls. However, the Sri Lankan spin duo of Jeffrey Vandersay and skipper Charith Asalanka dismantled the Men in Blue batting line-up.

Vandersay took a six-wicket haul, whereas skipper Asalanka dismissed three batters as Men in Blue were all-out for 208 and lost the match by 32 runs.

Currently, the hosts are leading the series 1-0 and will look to clinch the three-match ODI series against India by defeating them in the final game on Wednesday in Colombo. This will be Sri Lanka’s first ODI bilateral series win over India in 27 years if they win the match.
