The first IND vs SL ODI will be played on Friday, August 2 in Colombo.
After crushing Sri Lanka in the three-match T20I series by 3-0, the Indian cricket team are all set to take on the hosts in a three-match ODI series. The opening fixture of the series will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on August 2.
Indian cricketers Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul will be back in action. Rohit will lead the side in all three ODIs and youngster Shubman Gill is the new vice-captain.
Young all-rounder Riyan Parag and right-arm seamer Harshit Rana have earned their maiden ODI call-ups for the Sri Lanka ODI series. Senior all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah have been rested for the series to manage their workloads.
After suffering a whitewash in the T20I series, hosts Sri Lanka will be looking to bounce back in the upcoming ODI series under their new skipper Charith Asalanka. In the batting department, they have included Pathum Nissanka, Avishka Fernando, Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama.
Former T20I skipper Wanindu Hasaranga will lead the spin attack with Maheesh Theekshana, Dunith Wellalage and Akila Dananjaya supporting him. In the pace department, Dilshan Madhushanka and Matheesha Pathirana will have the responsibility to provide early breakthroughs.
