Vaibhav Sooryavanshi could get a chance in the IND vs WI 2nd T20I.

India made a strong start to their five-match T20I series against West Indies by winning the opening game in Lucknow. The Men in Blue chased down the 172-run target in just 14.4 overs with eight wickets in hand.

Shreyas Iyer was the main reason for India’s easy victory. The captain scored an unbeaten 102 off 43 balls to take India home with eight wickets in hand. It was also his first T20I century.

Naman Dhir impressed on his T20I debut, picking up three wickets, while Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav took two each. Arshdeep Singh and Mayank Yadav took one wicket each.

India will now face West Indies in the second T20I at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on Friday, October 9. With a 1-0 lead, India could look to give a few other players a chance in the second game.

3. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson has struggled for runs in the last few innings and could not make a big score in the first T20I. With India leading 1-0, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi might get a chance to play in the top order.

The young left-hander had a good IPL 2026 season and can add more aggression in the powerplay. His inclusion would give India another attacking option at the top.

2. Nitish Kumar Reddy for Axar Patel

Axar Patel played a pivotal role in India’s gold medal-winning campaign at the Asian Games 2026 and remains one of the country’s key spin-bowling all-rounders.

However, Nitish Kumar Reddy could be given a chance in Ranchi. He did not have a great ODI series against West Indies and could use some game time in the T20I series.

India are also playing with two specialist fast bowlers, so Reddy could provide another pace-bowling option if needed.

1. Prince Yadav for Mayank Yadav

Mayank Yadav had an expensive first T20I, giving away 16 runs in his opening over despite dismissing Sherfane Rutherford. India could leave him out for this game and give Prince Yadav a chance instead.

Prince can bowl with the new ball and at the death. With India leading the series, the second T20I could be a good chance to see what he can offer.
