The fifth IND vs WI T20I has been delayed due to rain.

India and the West Indies were set to clash against each other in the deciding T20I of the five-match series at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, October 17. However, the match was hit by rain, and the toss has also been delayed.

Both sides have won two games each. India made a great start in the series by winning the first game by 8 wickets, courtesy of Shreyas Iyer‘s century. However, they later lost the second match by six wickets after the West Indies skipper Shai Hope scored a century.

The three-time T20I World Cup champions later made a comeback by winning the third game by 14 runs, but ended up losing the fourth by 24 runs, where Shai Hope scored another century. The 2-2 series score makes the last game significantly important. Thus, given the importance of the game, the match is expected to be a five-over game.

The cut-off time for a 5-over game is 9.41 pm. The game was scheduled to start at 7:00 PM IST. Meanwhile, after 30 minutes of the lost time, the overs of the match start to get reduced. Thus, the game will surely be a short contest if it starts at all.

However, the wait for the rain to stop at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru continues.

It has not been long since Indian cricket fans last witnessed a five-over clash on the international stage. Before the Men in Blue started their campaign at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, they faced Japan in the Suzuki Cup.

The game was delayed due to the weather, and eventually, a five-over match was played. India won the toss, and they decided to bat first; however, Japan also gave them a strong competition. The visitors only scored 32 runs in five overs, but they managed to restrict Japan from reaching the target and won the game by two runs.
