IND vs WI: 6 Indian players who have been dropped from the test squad

The two-match IND vs WI test series will be played from October 2.
On Thursday (September 25), Indian selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar announced 15-member squad for the upcoming two-match home series against the West Indies. The series will be played between October 2 and 14 in Ahmedabad and Delhi.
Shubman Gill, who recently was appointed as the test captain, will be leading for the first time in a home series and will look to carry on the momentum that India had from the last series in England.
Nitish Kumar Reddy and Devdutt Padikkal have made a comeback to the team. But, some of the players who were part of the England tour have been unlucky and got dropped from the squad. Here we will talk about six players who have been dropped from the IND vs WI test series.
IND vs WI: 6 Indian players who have been dropped from the test squad
1. Abhimanyu Easwaran

Abhimanyu Easwaran has been one of the unluckiest Indian cricketers, searching for his test cap since 2022. He received his maiden call for the test side back in December 2022 for a series against Bangladesh. But, since then, several players have made their debut, and Easwaran is still waiting for that moment and now has been dropped from the test squad.
2. Karun Nair

Karun Nair had to wait for almost a decade to make his Indian test comeback, and he finally had a chance to play in England. But, he couldn’t impress much as he managed to score 205 runs in four tests at an average of 25.62 with only one score of 50+. The selectors were not impressed with performance and dropped him from the side.
3. Akash Deep

Akash Deep had a pretty good performance in England. He played three tests and took 13 wickets and scored a vital 66 in the final innings of the fifth test at the Oval. But, he is not part of the IND vs WI series. It is largely because the series will be played in India, which will need more spinners in the side and also, a lingering groin injury. Hence, the selectors have gone for Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah as three fast bowlers for the series.
4. Arshdeep Singh

Star left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh is another name who has been dropped from the test squad. He was part of the England test tour, but didn’t get a game. As India are playing at home and the conditions here will favour the spinners better, the selectors have decided to drop Arshdeep from the squad.
5. Anshul Kamboj

Anshul Kamboj made his test debut for India in the Manchester test against England. He was flown from India to play the test after his impressive performance for India A. But, he wasn’t able to impress much with the ball and took only one wicket in the game. Hence, he has been dropped from the team.
6. Shardul Thakur

Experienced pacer Shardul Thakur was another disappointment on the English tour. After doing well in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, he was picked for the England test tour. But, he looked off-colour in two games he played. He only took two wickets with the ball and couldn’t do much with the bat either. Hence, India have dropped him from the test squad and have picked Nitish Kumar Reddy as the sole fast-bowling all-rounder.
