Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill slammed centuries to take India to win in the 1st IND vs WI ODI.
Another game, another chase, and another century for Virat ‘King’ Kohli. It was a day of some superb batting masterclass. Three individual centuries were scored in the first ODI between India and West at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram.
The game began with India winning the toss and putting West Indies to bat first. The hosts had a superb start with a 135-run stand for the first wicket between Justin Greaves and John Campbell (62 off 60). Greaves brought his maiden century and scored 101 off 108 balls.
Amir Jangoo’s unbeaten 58 off 43 balls took West Indies to 295/7. For India, Kuldeep Yadav took 4/40 in the middle overs. India also had a good start with a 74-run opening stand between Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma (32 off 35).
Once Rohit got out, Virat joined Gill, and it was one-way traffic. The duo added 151 runs for the second wicket and took India close to the win. Gill scored his century in this period and got out scoring 110 off 108 balls.
But Virat Kohli didn’t stop and brought up his 55th ODI ton off 74 balls. Kohli made sure that he take India over the line. He remained unbeaten on 139 off just 88 balls with nine sixes and ten fours and took India to another 300-run successful chase.
