West Indies won the third IND vs WI ODI to avoid the series whitewash.
Just like the first two games of the three-match ODI series between India and West Indies, the final ODI also turned out to be a high-scoring thriller. Both teams recorded 350-plus scores, and West Indies recorded their highest ODI chase.
In the first two games, India preferred to chase, and they chased down the totals of 300 and 406 in style without much sweat. But in the final ODI, India elected to bat first. They had a poor start, losing Shubman Gill (1) and Virat Kohli (0) within the first three overs.
But it was followed by a 137-run stand between Rohit Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad (57 off 69). Rohit missed his consecutive century by just 8 runs and got out scoring 92 off 85 balls. After this, it was KL Rahul’s show.
Rahul started in his familiar fashion and went berserk in the end. He scored his ninth ODI ton and recorded his highest ODI score of 129* off 87 balls to take India to 351/7 in the first innings. It was an uphill task, and West Indies needed a special effort.
That is what they got from captain Shai Hope. He scored a century in the second ODI and carried his form in the final game to take West Indies to a record chase.
The captain scored an unbeaten 162 off 143 balls to take his to their highest ODI chase ever. He was supported by Amir Jangoo (67) and Keemo Paul (44) during the record chase.

Indian captain Shubman Gill failed in the last game, but he still ended up scoring the most runs in the series. With 334 runs, Gill finished the IND vs WI series as the leading scorer. He is followed by the West Indian captain Shai Hope, who scored an unbeaten 162 runs in the final game.
Amir Jangoo had one century and two half-centuries and he finished third with 239 runs. Rohit Sharma (225) and John Campbell (173) finished fourth and fifth in the series.
